Aahna Suri
Every great idea begins with someone willing to share it. Whether it sparks a new perspective, challenges the way we think, or simply helps us see something familiar in a different way, ideas have the power to shape how we understand the world around us, and I am a big believer of that. Kia ora! I'm Aahna Suri, the Lead Organiser for TEDxPaparangi Youth 2026. My connection with TEDx began when I started watching TED Talks at around 13 years old, and they have continued to inspire me ever since. One talk that has always stayed with me is Inside the Mind of a Master Procrastinator by Tim Urban. What stood out was the way it transformed an everyday experience into a meaningful conversation, showing that powerful ideas can come from anyone with a unique perspective and a story worth sharing. That belief is at the heart of what makes TEDx so special to me. It creates a space where young people can share their ideas, explore different perspectives, and recognise the value of their own voices, something that I'm very passionate about and spend time endorsing this outside of my studies. As Lead Organiser, my goal is to help create an environment where speakers and attendees alike feel encouraged to think openly, embrace new possibilities, and take confidence from the ideas they have to offer.

Soumya Tyagi
My name is Soumya Tyagi, and I am a Year 12 student at Newlands College with a strong passion for leadership, youth advocacy, and community service. I was honoured to be selected as a winner of the British High Commission's Diplomat for a Day Programme, where I had the opportunity to engage with diplomats and policymakers while representing the perspectives of young people. Alongside my studies, I actively volunteer as a Youth Leader with Voice of Aroha and contribute to organisations including Te Ara TÄĞrama, SADD NZ, Youth Impact, and WAY. As the Lead Organiser of TEDxYouth, I want to create a platform where young people feel empowered to share their ideas, inspire meaningful conversations, and drive positive change. Through these experiences, I have developed strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, and I am committed to using these skills to make a positive impact in my community. I believe that meaningful leadership is about empowering others, creating opportunities for growth, and inspiring positive change that extends beyond yourself.
